# Applying Contact's Filters

Learn to create filters to better manage and organize the contacts in your Contacts tab.

### Creating filters

You can add multiple filters, duplicate filters, and reuse the same filter across different segments.

To create a filter, you need to define:

* **Category**: The type of data you want to filter by within Hifunnel
* **Condition**: The rule applied to the selected category
* **Value**: The specific parameter used for the condition

#### Filter your contact list

* Open the **Contacts** tab from your Hifunnel Dashboard.
* Click **Filters**.
* Select a **Category**, **Condition**, and **Value** to apply the filter.

After creating a Filter, click Apply Filters or add a new filter to narrow your list even further.

### Things to consider when applying filters

To get the most accurate results when filtering your contacts, there are a few important behaviors to keep in mind.

#### **Duplicate categories**

If you apply multiple filters using the **same Category and Condition**, any duplicate filters will be ignored - even if the **Values** are different.

Instead of duplicating filters, use Categories that allow **multiple values** within a single filter whenever possible.

#### **Condition behavior**

Filter logic can behave differently depending on the Category and Condition used:

* Using the **Offer** category with the **Owns** condition works as an **OR** statement.
  * Example: Owns Offer A **OR** Offer B
* Using the **Tags** category with the **Has any** or **Has all** condition works as an **AND** statement when selecting multiple Tags.
  * Example: Has Tag A **AND** Tag B

Understanding this behavior is critical to avoid unexpected filter results.

#### **Selecting multiple values**

Some Categories allow you to select **multiple values** within a single filter.

For example, Filters using the **Offer** or **Tags** Category allow you to select multiple Values to more precisely define your contact list.
