# How Hifunnel Protects Your Downloads

Learn how Hifunnel uses temporary URLs and authentication to secure your downloadable digital content.

Protecting your digital assets and intellectual property is a top priority. When you sell downloadable files (like PDFs, audio files, templates, or ebooks) through **Hifunnel Downloads**, Hifunnel protects your content using temporary URLs and secure user authentication.

### How Hifunnel Protects Your Download Files

Hifunnel prevents unauthorized sharing or direct linking to your downloadable files through the following security layers:

* **Temporary, Randomized URLs:** Whenever a customer clicks a download button or link, Hifunnel dynamically generates a unique, temporary URL specifically for that request. This URL is randomized and non-guessable.
* **Hidden Link Structure:** The underlying file location and temporary URL are hidden from the customer so they cannot copy, paste, or distribute direct links to your files.
* **1-Minute Link Expiration:** Temporary download URLs automatically expire after **1 minute**. If someone copies a download link and tries to share it with someone else, the link will be invalid by the time they click it.
* **Login & Authentication Required:** To initiate a download, customers must be logged into their active account with access to the Product. Unauthenticated visitors cannot trigger a download.

### What Happens If a Download Link Expires?

If a customer's temporary download link expires (for example, if they open a link but wait too long before saving the file):

1. The customer simply needs to stay logged into their Hifunnel account.
2. Click the **Download** button again inside their Member Library.
3. Hifunnel will instantly generate a brand-new, active temporary URL for them to complete the download.
