# What happens if I change my domain after my website has been live?

Wondering what happens to your existing traffic, SEO, and shared links if you change your domain? This guide explains the differences between connecting a custom domain versus changing your system subdomain on Hifunnel.

## Changing subdomain to a custom domain

Hifunnel allows your site to be accessed through **both** your default Hifunnel system subdomain and your connected custom domain.

Connecting a custom domain to your Hifunnel site (even after your website has already been live for some time) will allow your visitors to access your site using **either** address, without disrupting your existing setup or breaking existing links.

### Example

1. You launch your site using a default Hifunnel system subdomain:

   ```
   yourbrand.hifunnel.vn
   ```
2. Later, you decide to connect your custom domain:

   ```
   yourbrand.com
   ```
3. After connecting the custom domain, your site visitors can reach your site using **both**:
   * `yourbrand.hifunnel.vn`
   * `yourbrand.com`

Both URLs point to the exact same site and content.

## Changing your Hifunnel system subdomain to a different system subdomain

At this time, Hifunnel does **not** support setting up native 301 redirects when changing a system subdomain to another system subdomain.

If you start with a default system subdomain (for example, `helpcenter.hifunnel.vn`), build up traffic, and later change it to a different system subdomain (for example, `academy.hifunnel.vn`), the original subdomain (`helpcenter.hifunnel.vn`) will no longer exist and will return a non-existing (404) page error.

### Tip for Branding & URL Changes

If your goal is branding or using a cleaner URL, we recommend [**connecting a custom domain**](/hifunnel-help-center/documentation/website/domains/set-up-a-custom-domain.md) instead of changing your default system subdomain.

When you connect a custom domain to Hifunnel:

* Your original system subdomain, and
* Your connected custom domain

will both continue to direct visitors to your website appropriately without breaking existing links or marketing campaigns.
